Take the time to discover and master the evidence for yourself so you can articulate the deep, rich, and robust evidential support for the claim of Christianity. (Wallace, J. Warner; “Cold-Case Christianity”, 2023, pg. 74)
Blessed Thursday Fam! In Chapter three of J. Warner Wallace’s classic “Cold-Case Christianity”, Wallace teaches his readers to “think ‘circumstanially’”. Wallace argues that due to the fact that all the evidence and eye-witness accounts of Christ are now almost two thousand years old, we need to look at circumstantial evidence. Wallace describes “circumstantial evidence” as indirect evidence that “does not prove something on its own, but points us in the right direction by proving something related to the question at hand” (pg. 59). Wallace later adds “all of us need to respect the power and nature of circumstantial evidence in determining truth so we can be fair when evaluating the role circumstantial evidence plays in making the case for Christianity” (pg. 73). This is the next tool for our “Christian Call-out bag”. In defending the truth of Christianity, much of it is proven through the circumstantial evidence from other historians and writings of a distant past. But as Wallace properly states, “Circumstantial evidence is powerful if it is properly understood” (pg. 73).
I have begun reading the second part of Wallace’s book, where he shifts from preparing his readers for their investigation, to opening our eyes to everything Wallace discovered in his investigation into Christianity. I am learning a lot, and I can not wait to share all these facts with you, to help equip you with wonderful circumstantial, and direct, evidence that points to the proof of Jesus for you to tuck in your toolbox if you ever are met with an unbeliever who yearns from proof that is “deep, rich, and robust”.
Last post I shared the fantastic new album from Anne Wilson. While that one is a true gem in the country music genre, I have had one album on repeat this last week, and it is from one of my favorite bands, Sanctus Real. While they have previously released many of these tracks over the last two years, it is still an amazing collection and an uplifting, upbeat set to listen to over and over again. This album includes my top single from last year “Dare to Hope”, but the song below is a close second. Click the image and hear why I sing “Victory” over y’all today!
