If you’re a believer, my experiences might provide you with a few tools that can help you defend your faith in a more vigorous and informed way. You may learn something new about the history of Christianity or the nature and power of evidence. I want to encourage you to become an informed Christian, to worship God with your mind, and to prepare yourself as a Christian case maker. (Wallace, J. Warner, Cold-Case Christianity, 2023, pg. 22)
Cold-case homicide detective J. Warner Wallace wrote Cold-Case Christianity in what he describes as one of his “busiest seasons” as a detective. Wallace opens his tenth anniversary with a preface where he states what led him to become a follower of Christ: the evidence. Wallace writes, “As an atheist, I had a meaningful life and fulfilling career, a loving family, an incredible wife, and lots of friends”(pg. 14). God spoke a whisper to this detective guiding him to challenge the truth of Jesus Christ. In doing so, Wallace not only became a devout Christian, but is now a Senior Fellow at the Colson Center for Christian Worldview. He is also an adjunct professor of apologetics at Talbot School of Theology (Biola University), Gateway Seminary, and Southern Evangelical Seminary, and a faculty member at Summit Ministries(https://coldcasechristianity.com/j-warner-wallace-christian-apologist-and-author/). In explaining why he is a Christian, Wallace writes “I am a Christian because my high regard for the truth leaves me no alternative”(pg. 14).
As an aspiring detective myself, I have hung on every word Wallace shares. Not only does his book help readers become better investigators, it makes an indisputable argument for the truth of the Gospel, the crucifixion, and for the deity of Jesus Christ. I can not wait to share more of this book with y’all. I hope by the end of this you “Rise Up” as a more informed Christian, ready and able to make your case to any non-believer and help harvest the field.
