20“All who do evil hate the light and refuse to go near it for their sins will be exposed.” (John 3:20)
Tomorrow will be a very somber day. Tomorrow I am heading to the one place I was desiring to travel to while on this deployment. Tomorrow, the post I will present to you will be a very raw recap of one of the most important historic sites preserved in the country of Poland. Tomorrow, we are experiencing Auschwitz.
Experience is the best word for the anticipation I have for this trip. There is no other place in Europe that has captured my attention more than the concentration camps where the darkest days of humanities history were lived. For all the years studying the Holocaust through high school, college, and throughout life; for the trips to Holocaust museums in the U.S.; to have the opportunity to step foot on this hallowed soil is a trip I had mapped out since landing in Poland back in September. To prepare us for the journey, our Chaplain shared a piece of history I was unaware of before, which I am sharing below. Expect a heavy post tomorrow as I come face to face with the horrors of hell.
