Work
20Then David continued, “Be strong and courageous, and do the work.” (1 Chronicles 28:20)
Do the work. King David gives his son, Solomon, this command in reference to building the first Temple in Jerusalem to be the House of the Lord. Solomon would follow King David’s instruction and build one of the greatest Temples in the world. It would be destroyed by King Nebuchadnezzar during the Babylonian Empire’s seize of Israel. As I read in the Second Book of Kings, the detail and intricacies that went into that first Temple seemed incredible.
Today, during a work trip to study and analyze the key Czech Republic’s historic Capitol, the beautiful city of Prague, I observed wonders of this world hundreds of years old. I invite you to explore some of the Czech Republic’s colorful history. The Czech’s have been doing the work for thousands of years. The city of Prague is, by far, the most beautiful city I have ever stepped foot in. Architecture that takes your breath away. Gorgeous churches with stunning tapestries of tiles and sweeping arches. And once again, I took heart in the fact that every where I looked was a reminder of the King of Kings. From a 600-year-old Astronomical Clock that presents the 12-Apostles at the striking of every hour, to the soaring steeples of many ancient churches; Eastern Europe demonstrates their faith in Christ in soul-stirring fashion. America is failing in doing the work of preserving the presence of our Christianity. It is refreshing to be able to visit countries where Jesus is still the focus. And what happens when you keep that winning formula? Well, Prague is considered one of the safest cities in the world. The Czech Republic also boasts a impressively low poverty rate. I saw no homeless in a city with millions of people, areas that nearly every major city in America struggles with. The Czech’s seem to be doing the work, and doing it right.
While God commanded Solomon to do the work and build His temple. He breathed a word into the heart of music composer and brilliant pianist Tommee Profitt to produce a live Christmas concert last month. I have had this album on repeat since hearing it this week. Mr. Profitt has created one of the best Christmas collections of all time, and I highly recommend you click on the image below to watch the whole concert. I can not decide on a favorite from this incredible set list, so just watch the whole thing.
