Peace
But before dawn the next morning, Saul arrived, having divided his army into three detachments. He launched a surprise attack against the Ammonites and slaughtered them the whole morning. The remnant of their army was so badly scattered that no two of them were left together. (1 Samuel 11:11, The Life Application Bible)
As we see in the verses above, war is nothing new for the nation of Israel. Since God sent Joshua to lead the 12 tribes into the Promise Land, Israel has been fighting for the stake of what was promised to them for thousands of years. If you are unfamiliar with Israel’s complex history, this brief overview is a great read and clearly explains the 70-year conflict between Palestine and the reinstatement of the Jewish nation. In 1948, the world powers felt that creating a Jewish state for all the persecuted Jews who had become refugees from Europe was the best solution for those displaced foreigners. The world carved what is now the nation of Israel out of the land of the Palestinians. And since the very moment Israel was declared a nation, the two have been at war with each other.
Which is what brought on October 7, and the massacre of over 1,400 Israelis by the terrorist group, Hamas. The world was shocked and rallied behind Israel to destroy Hamas once and for all. But since then, Israel’s response has been horrific. Just click here to read updates as Israel has struck schools, hospitals generators, and repeated attacks on refugee camps. Israel’s actions are going to pull other nations into this war against them, which will trigger responses from Israel’s allies. The “Axis of Resistance”, led by Iran, has surprisingly not jumped into the fray yet, but they are getting close. As a Christian, I can not support Israel’s current actions of bombing the Gaza Strip as relentlessly as they have. Far too many Palestinian children have died (read their names HERE). I support Israel’s right to go to war with Hamas, but that needs to become a more precise, ground forces invasion. Yes, that will cost many Israeli soldiers lives, but that is the horror of war. No one wins, but hopefully, this will severely cut down the civilian casualties. I continue to pray for peace, for the release of the Israeli captives, for the murder of innocents to cease. It feels like the return of the King is quickly approaching, as war rages around the world, earthquakes are happening at an alarming rate, the prices of goods are skyrocketing. This was all predicted would herald Jesus’s second coming. Be ready, the moment draws near.
