Common Sense REBORN Devotion

A Life Worth Dying For

37Then Jesus uttered another loud cry and breathed His last. 38And the curtain in the sanctuary of the Temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. (Mark 15:37, 38, The Life Application Bible)

I have tried to keep this blog on a more positive note recently, but yesterday I spent some time getting caught up on AP News’ coverage of the Israeli massacre of the Gaza Strip. While the AP independently cleared the air about the missile strike that hit a hospital over a week ago, Israel struck even more civilian targets over the weekend, and the pictures journalists have captured are horrific. Image after image of young children screaming, covered in blood, dirt, and dust. Palestinian children are God’s children just as the Israeli children are. I pray for a ceasefire, for peace, for an end to this brutal war.

Jesus Christ did not suffer a horrible death on the cross for this brutality. He died to redeem mankind with peace and love, two things this world desperately needs right now. I hope you are showing that to those around you more than ever. If you are active on social media, as Christians we need to be promoting peace, not supporting one side or the other. Israel has more than exacted their vengeance. What they are doing is cowardly at this point. They have some of the most elite fighting forces in the world. Stop bombing indiscriminately, suit up and route Hamas from the gutters. The death they are causing in Palestine right now is quickly turning the world against their favor.

Brooke Ligertwood was the third big album release this past Friday. Her serene voice brings comfort in this dark world. You can listen to her album by clicking here. The song below is my prayer once again, that Jesus returns “soon, and very soon”.
