Called to Love

22You were cleansed from your sins when you obeyed the truth, so now you must show sincere love to each other as brothers and sisters. Love each other deeply with all your heart. (1 Peter 1:22, The Life Application Bible)

We are called to love one another, as brothers and sisters. LOVING brothers and sisters. I have to specify that because not all families and siblings have loving strong relationships, so telling someone that we need to love each other as brothers and sisters, this might not translate if we have had bitter battles with our immediate family. But when Peter wrote this letter to the early churches, he was instructing them to love each other with all their hearts, treating each other as brothers and sisters.

We have lost sight of that calling as Christians as we usually treat each other with contempt instead of with compassion. We need to get back to treating each other as a loving family, bound together by the Blood of Christ.

Yesterday, I had alluded to three big albums dropping last Friday. I shared Maverick City Music’s in yesterday’s post. While I meant to get to Travis Greene’s hard-hitting gospel/hip-hop album “Strike The Ground” and Pat Barrett’s wonderful new work called “Shelter”, with the amount of incredible new music that came out this week, I have to press on. Brandon Lake took home the awards for Artist-of-the-Year, Songwriter of the Year-Artist, Worship Song of the Year, AND shared the award for Rap/Hip-Hop Recorded Song of the Year, at the Dove Awards. In honor of Mr. Lake and his amazing talent, and his new album dropping yesterday, here is newest release, a much slower track from that impressive collection, but just another example of how versatile an artist B. Lake is. From tearing off the roof to a miracle child, “Artist of the Year” was a well deserved win for this young man.
