Common Sense REBORN Devotion

8And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. 9Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me-everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of Peace will be with you. (Philippians 4:8-9, The Life Application Bible)

With all the chaos and destruction in the world going on right now, I wanted to share the verses above to remind all of us of these teachings from the Apostle Paul. It is easy to be consumed with all the darkness of the world right now, but God wants us to keep our eyes fixed upon Jesus. Now, we should be mourning with the world for all the lives being needlessly slain in wars raged across the globe. But God and Jesus want us to focus on what is good, what is pure, what is admirable, and to be that beacon of light to bring peace to the world. Pray for the innocent. Pray for the children caught in the crosshairs of the Israeli-Hamas war; the Ukraine-Russian War; the Syrian Civil war; the mass exodus of migrants from South America, North Africa; the horrific earthquake in Afghanistan. These are all God’s children being subjective to horrific times for no excusable reason. Focus on those doing good to try to bring resources and peace to all these conflicts. Lift up those promoting an end to this madness. Keep your heart in the right place, open to the Holy Spirit and allow Jesus to work miracles through you. That is the only way for us to fix this broken world.

Three beautiful albums dropped last Friday, and I will be sharing them over the next few days. I want to start with the new one from Maverick City Music, entitled “In The Room”. Click here to listen to that entire collection. It was hard to pick between the title track and the song below, but in “Good News” there is the powerful reminder that Jesus is the good news. He was back then, He is now, and He is the good news that He will return to usher an end to all this pain and suffering. Get ready, because His return will hopefully be within this generation.
