Common Sense REBORN Devotion

August 15

18The Lord is close to the brokenhearted

and saves those who are crushed in spirit.  (Psalm 34:18)

Good Morning Family.  The pictures and news from the Maui fire continue to be devastating.  The death toll rises with every update and could reach historic levels, possibly becoming the deadliest fire in US recorded history.  Over 1,300 people are still reported missing and as of news updates on Monday night, only 25% of the area damaged has been properly searched.

I still urge any of you reading this post, if you have the ability, please donate to the organizations bringing relief to those in need in Maui.  One group I forgot to mention on Friday was Convoy of Hope.  They are a great charity that partners with local churches to get much needed supplies and resources into the communities with the greatest need.

Pastor Steven Furtick preached another uplifting word this past Sunday, as he extended his surprise sermon series of “The God of”.  This week, Pastor Furtick speaks about the “God of After”.

God is the God of After.  After the storm, after the fire, after the natural disaster, God is there to comfort those who have lost, to bring aid to those in need, and to stand as the eternal promise of peace from this broken world.

There are many questions that come out of horrific disasters like the Maui fire, like where is God in those ashses?  Well, The Afters released a powerful new song to answer that question, which I urge you to listen to now by clicking the image below.
