July 26
3Children are a heritage from the Lord,
offspring a reward from Him. (Psalm 127:3, The Jesus Bible)
It is July 26. The day God changed Mrs. Z and I’s life forever. Today is the day that we met SGZ number 1 in this beautiful, majestical life. Today she turns 12-years-old and we begin the final march toward her teenage years. We have learned so much over the last 12-years, and the greatest lesson is how to love unconditionally. From our love for SGZ1, we finally understood how God loves us, how Jesus adores us, how the Holy Spirit protects us, because we try to be all of that for our beautiful, amazing daughter. But even though we love her with every fiber of our being and soul, God loves her so much more. And realizing how much God loves her, we were finally able to understand how much God loved US.
As the short but powerful verse states above, our children are a HERITAGE straight from God. They truly are a REWARD from Him, a gift we could never earn. Much like the grace from Jesus, there is nothing we could ever do to gain such gifts, but by God’s boundless compassion, He gives them to us anyway. It was from this love of my firstborn that I grew to know God for the first time in my life, read His love story to us (the Bible), and turn my life upside down (right-side up). Before July 26, 2011, I existed within the world and lived for the world. Since then, I have put my focus on living for the Kingdom and doing all I can to secure my place in Heaven, because I will settle for nothing less than spending eternity with my children. And because of that, I will make sure I raise them to secure their place in that Book of Life so we can all walk those streets of gold forever.
The song I am sharing below became my song for SGZ1 two years ago when it was first released. On that birthday, this music video had not been produced so all I had were the beautiful lyrics to share, but today, I want to share this with y’all because it is a perfect example of two wonderful parents writing a timeless melody to display their love for their children. Click below and have a blessed day!
